When Roxy arrived in our care, she was barely alive.
Emaciated and weak from severe starvation, she had clearly endured more than any dog ever should. She was taken straight to the vets for urgent treatment, where the full extent of her condition began to unfold. It was heartbreaking to see how fragile she was - her body exhausted, her strength almost gone.
You’ll see in the photos just how thin and vulnerable Roxy was when she first came to us. It’s difficult to imagine that this is the same dog who is now safe, loved and finally enjoying life.
Despite everything she had been through, Roxy’s gentle and sweet nature shone through. And then something wonderful happened - a truly special family came forward to offer her a forever foster home.
Roxy’s transformation tells a powerful story. When she first arrived, she was heartbreakingly emaciated, weak, and barely holding on after severe starvation.

What is Forever Foster?
Some animals in our care have ongoing medical or behavioural needs that mean they aren’t suitable for traditional adoption. Instead, they are placed in a carefully matched forever foster home, where they can live as part of a loving family for the rest of their lives.
We continue to cover their veterinary care and provide ongoing support, while their foster family gives them daily love, comfort and stability. It means dogs like Roxy get the happy ending they deserve - without worrying about future rehoming.
Roxy’s forever foster family adore her, and the children absolutely love having her as part of their lives. She is now living the life every dog deserves: warm beds, full bowls, gentle walks and endless affection.
Already, Roxy has gained weight and strength. But her recovery is ongoing, and her veterinary costs are increasing as we continue to address the effects of prolonged starvation and ensure she stays healthy.
