From Becky: Why I'm asking for your help this month

One of the hardest parts of running a rescue isn't the long days or sleepless nights – it's knowing that every time the phone rings, another animal may need help.

We never know what each month will bring. Some animals arrive needing little more than a health check and a warm bed. Others need emergency surgery, ongoing treatment or weeks of veterinary care before they can even begin thinking about finding a forever home.

This July has been one of those months.

Our veterinary bill came to £17,641.83 for June.

Even after all these years, seeing a figure like that still takes my breath away.

That total isn't made up of extras or unnecessary treatments. It's vaccinations that protect vulnerable animals, neutering to prevent unwanted litters, pain relief for those who have suffered, consultations, emergency surgeries and everything in between. Every pound has gone towards giving an animal the chance to recover and start a new life.

One story that really touched my heart was that of three tiny newborn kittens who tragically lost their mum. At just a few days old, they couldn't regulate their own body temperature, meaning they needed an incubator to survive. I shared their story with our supporters, and thanks to your incredible generosity, we were able to raise the funds we needed. It's a perfect example of what this amazing community can achieve when animals need us most.

Sadly, the need for veterinary care never stops. Our beautiful Vera has now developed further cancerous tumours that need investigating, and every week brings more animals through our doors needing treatment, medication and ongoing care.

People often ask me how we keep going, and the honest answer is simple: because of you.

"Every animal that comes through our doors deserves the same chance at a happy, healthy life. We never want cost to be the reason we can't help. Seeing our supporters come together time and time again reminds me that we're never doing this alone. Thank you for standing beside us and the animals who need us most." — Becky, Founder

If you're able to make a donation today—whether it's £5, £10 or whatever you can afford—you'll be helping provide the veterinary care that gives rescue animals the second chance they deserve.

Every donation, no matter the size, truly makes a difference.

From all of us at Hay Animal Rescue Team—and especially from the animals whose lives you've helped change—thank you.

With love,

Becky
