Ernie

Some of you will remember Ernie—he arrived with us as a tiny puppy, his femur shattered, his future uncertain.

💕Ernie has absolutely blossomed since his operation and recovery, thanks to a lot of support from his amazing foster mum. He’s come on so well in foster — genuinely a different dog in all the best ways.🐾

He’s sociable, friendly and playful, and he slots beautifully into his foster mum’s day care with other well‑socialised, kind dogs. His confidence has grown, and he’s now a relaxed, happy, very loved member of the pack.

As expected for his breed, he does have herding tendencies. He’ll need livestock securely fenced off and shouldn’t be loose around poultry or livestock unless more work is done with him. The same goes for cats — his instincts kick in and he’ll try a little nip‑nudge if he thinks you’re not paying attention. None of this is unusual for him, it just needs management and the right home.

He listens brilliantly to commands and is an absolute joy to be around. He’s smart, enthusiastic, playful, charming, handsome, loving… with a goofy side and a bit of cheeky independence. If he thinks he’s “working”, he can be a tad stubborn, but it’s all part of his character and he’s a quick learner.

He thrives being part of a well‑balanced pack, loves a good chew treat to unwind, and is a genuinely happy boy living an active life.

He still has a tiny bit of food guarding around unfamiliar dogs at mealtimes, but this has reduced massively as he’s relaxed and built trust. He eats with the resident dogs without any issue.

Lead work is a work in progress — he likes to be at the front making sure everyone is together — but he learns fast and one‑to‑one time will crack it quickly. He travels brilliantly and is absolutely fine with older children.

Anyone would be lucky to have such a charismatic, handsome boy. He really is something special.

🧡 Best Bits:

  • Sociable & Friendly: He’s slotted beautifully into foster pack and enjoys the company of well-socialised dogs.

  • Smart & Eager to Learn: Listens brilliantly to commands and is a very quick learner.

  • Charismatic Personality: A charming, handsome, and loving boy with a goofy, playful side.

  • Great Traveller: Handles car journeys brilliantly and is fine around older children.

  • A Truly Special Boy: Ernie has come on leaps and bounds in his time with us and he’s such a wonderful boy who’s ready now more than ever for his loving forever home.

🧡 Needs:

  • Support with Lead Work: Responds well to one-to-one time and will thrive with a bit of continued guidance on his walks.

  • Clear Communication: Someone who understands his breed instincts and can continue supporting his training.

  • Trust-Building at Mealtimes: While he has made huge progress in this area, he appreciates a calm space to eat as he continues to build confidence around new friends.

Topo

🐾 Topo: Still waiting for his quiet rural forever home 💕

A quick update from Topo...

Still here. Still waiting. Still being the absolute good boy he’s worked so hard to become.

In his time with us, this lad has put the effort in—and wow, what a difference. His dog-to-dog skills have improved dramatically, and he’s now living comfortably in a brilliant little pack of foster siblings. A home with another dog? No problem at all for him anymore.

We’ve also been working on his acceptance of strangers, and he’s come on in absolute leaps and bounds. He’s trying, he’s learning, and he’s showing us every day just how much potential he has.

Topo is still waiting for his person... but he’s more ready than ever.

🐾 About Topo

Topo is a beautiful Podenco mix born in 2018. He had a very difficult start to life, suffering abuse and starvation as a puppy before being fostered in Gran Canaria and eventually brought to the UK in 2020 (not by us). While he has been deeply loved here, he has struggled with the reduced space of his current environment. He is now looking for a rural sanctuary where he can finally "exhale."

🧡 Topo’s Best Bits

  • Loyal and Affectionate : Once he trusts you, Topo is incredibly affectionate and loves to snuggle.

  • Social & Improved: He thrives in daycare and boarding, and as his recent progress shows, he is a star when living as part of a dog pack.

  • Active & Healthy: At 11–12kg, he is a nimble, joyful boy who loves exploring at his own pace.

🏡 His Ideal Environment

Because Topo finds sudden movements and loud noises overwhelming, he needs:

  • Quiet, Rural Location: He needs an adult-only home (16+) with a calm, predictable routine.

  • High-Security Garden: Topo is an impressive athlete! He is an escape artist who can jump very high, so he requires 100% secure fencing (standard livestock fencing is not high enough).

  • Animal Friends: He can live with other dogs or confident, dog-savvy cats. However, he is not suitable for homes with livestock.

  • Time, patience and predictable routines.

Topo is such a loyal, loving boy who has worked incredibly hard to overcome his past. He just needs a patient adopter with the right space to let his personality truly shine.

Out and about, he is always on a lead and enjoys exploring at his own pace. He is much more relaxed when he has space and freedom and can take himself away from anything that worries him.

If you feel you can offer Topo the safe, spacious home he needs, we’d love to hear from you.

Bear

🐾 7 months old, bright as a button, but very much a work in progress 🐾

Bear is with us at just seven months old, and we are home number four. That alone tells you how little structure he’s had so far. His previous home genuinely tried their best with him, but he is a handful — bright, busy, under‑taught, and bursting with energy.

We were told he’s a Pom × Yorkie, but I’m not convinced. There’s definitely some other terrier in there somewhere — I’d suspect Cairn maybe — but nothing I’d confidently pin down.

🧡 A little update about Bear 🧡

This little dog has absolutely passed all our expectations. He’s turned into the sweetest, nicest little fella and he’s really starting to shine.

With confident older children he would be absolutely fine. The nipping has stopped completely with us, so we’d expect the same in a home that keeps his boundaries consistent.

His recall has gotten really good, although he does still have that terrier prey drive tucked in there, so you’ll need to keep that in mind on walks. He’s learning to respect cats, but we still think he might be a bit much for them in a home environment.

He’s a cracking little dog who’s trying so hard to get everything right. He just needs his people now.

What he’s like

  • He knows sit, down and no, but his training level is extremely low.

  • His house manners are improving quickly, but house‑training is still very hit and miss.

  • Bear is getting better with crate training, but this will require continued training and patience.

  • Bear sleeps through the night, and he currently sleeps in the living room/kitchen.

  • He seems far happier with the company of other dogs than being alone.

  • Bear needs grooming, but he finds this very hard — he gets overexcited and genuinely has no idea how to behave for it yet.

  • He chews when bored and can jump like a spring.

  • He has a very high prey drive — if it’s small and fast‑moving, he’s after it.

  • He is learning that sheep are off‑limits, but he’s a pup and this is very much a work in progress.

  • Size‑wise, he’s very similar to our chunky Border Terrier.

🐕‍🦺 With other dogs

He’s learning. Off‑lead and in the home he is playful, friendly, and genuinely enjoys other dogs. We’ve had no issues at all with any dogs he’s met here.

On the lead, however, he hasn’t yet got the skills to remain calm — he gets overstimulated very easily and needs someone who can help him learn how to cope and focus.

🚶‍♂️ On the lead

He is learning lead skills here, but his skills are very limited and he gets overstimulated and over‑excited very easily. Any adopter will need to be prepared to really put work into this. He is not ready for a pub lunch by a long shot. This is very much a “start from scratch” area.

🏃‍♂️Ideal home

I’d really, really like him in an agility home. He’s got the brain, the bounce, the drive, and the energy for it — and he’d absolutely thrive with a job, structure, and someone who enjoys channelling that spark into something positive.

❤️ What he truly needs

Bear 100% needs someone who understands that he needs a lot of support now to ensure he can become the dog he’s capable of being — a dog who can live a happy, healthy, fulfilled life. He’s got all the raw ingredients; he just needs someone committed to shaping them.

Griff

🐾 4‑year‑old male Bearded Collie

➡️ Adult‑only • Experienced home • Only dog or female dog only

Griff is a lovely lad, nearly 30kg, and he needs an experienced home. We had hoped to offer Griff his forever home here (as everyone knows, I do love a bearded collie!) but it’s becoming increasingly apparent that Griff really struggles with the constant comings and goings of other dogs. That isn’t fair on him.

Griff has been assessed by a highly qualified and skilled dog behaviour specialist and he demonstrated very clearly that he is a very strong, balanced dog. Griff is well trained, but people mistake compliance for him being comfortable. If you want a dog you can kiss, smush and smother, Griff is 100% not for you. Griff would suit someone who wants a companion rather than a baby.

Griff is muzzle trained, particularly for the vets, as he is not keen on them touching him. This is simply part of keeping him safe and supported.

He cannot be rehomed with children. He has bitten (an adult, no skin broken), and while he communicates clearly, this is not something we would ever risk with a child.

Griff will not make a working dog — he lacks drive and can calmly walk through livestock without a reaction. He is not an active lad. He spends his days sleeping or quietly observing the world go by. He loves water, has great recall, is good as gold for the groomer, house trained, well‑mannered and genuinely lovely to have around. And he is stunningly handsome.

Griff is absolutely fine being left once he’s settled — he’s a very easy, quiet dog in the right environment.

Griff is much better with female dogs. He has lived with many males, but he finds this hard and it takes a lot of time with intros. We want a home where he is an only dog, or with a female dog only.

Agility would be a possibility for Griff, but very much on his terms.

🧡 Griff needs:

  • An adult‑only home

  • A physically strong, confident owner

  • Someone who understands him and can advocate for him

  • Only dog or female dog only

  • Someone who respects that he is not a cuddly, smushy dog

  • Someone who understands muzzle training as a normal, responsible tool

  • Someone who wants a companion, not a baby

Griff is a brilliant dog for the right person — steady, honest, clear, and happiest when life is calm and predictable.

Willa

🐾 Willa is a lovely 2-year-old Corgi who just wants to be someone’s whole world. Shes cuddly, affectionate and very small for her breed.

She can’t live with cats- she will sometimes chase- but she would happily live with another dog or be an only dog.

She’s used to children but is better suited to older ones as she’s a little jumper.

Willa previously had a few seizures, but since being spayed she hasn’t had a single episode. We’ve monitored her for several months and she’s been completely stable.

She walks nicely once the initial excitement settles, is crate trained, has recall and is good around sheep and cattle.

Max

🐾 This special boy is looking for a foster home with the view to adopt him when the time is right 💕

We are searching for that special someone who would be willing to foster Max with the view to adopt once he’s had his final cruciate surgery.

Born in 2018, Max is a gorgeous Springer Spaniel who has recovered beautifully from his first cruciate repair, has his dental coming up and would just love a home to call his own. We know it’s a big ask, but we’re hoping there’s someone out there who can be that person.

Max is a lively, happy lad who thrives in a semi-rural or rural home. He has great recall off-lead, loves to run, and absolutely adores swimming. He’s still working on his lead manners - he can pull - but with consistency and patience he’s improving all the time. He gets along well with other dogs, plays happily and loves a car journey.

He’s already had a cruciate surgery on one leg which has healed beautifully and he’s having regular physio. His other leg is due to be done soon, so you’ll need to be prepared for his aftercare and committed to following his recovery plan. He has been an absolute pleasure in his current foster home and she will be sad to see him go, but it’s time for him to find his forever home where he can enjoy the rest of his days.

He’s good with cats and livestock, but needs a home with no children due to his history.

If you think you might be that special someone for Max, please get in touch. He really does deserve his chance.

Ferg

Meet Ferg - a bright, active young lad looking for someone who can give him the loving, structured home he deserves.

🐾 About Ferg

He’s a classic border collie — switched on, keen, and happiest when he has the space to stretch his legs and run. He loves the company of other dogs and has been brilliant on meet‑and‑greets. He’s met a wide range of dogs in foster and his confidence has grown massively because of it.

He’s currently thriving in day care, surrounded by dogs, and he’d really benefit from living with another friendly dog to continue helping him develop socially.

Ferg is outgoing, super friendly with new people, and thinks everyone is a potential friend. He’s been great with children, but because he has previously nipped at adults out of fear, he will only be placed with older, dog‑savvy children who understand boundaries and have switched‑on parents.

He’s only seven months old, so he’s still learning and needs continued exposure to new experiences as he matures. He’s not bothered by traffic (he lives near a main road) and he ignores the chickens.

He has a strong herding drive with sheep, so in a farm environment he must be kept on lead or monitored with safe, controlled introductions. He hasn’t been tested with cats.

He sleeps well in a crate with his teddy and a chew, and it’s become his safe place to flop on his back and chill after a busy day. He’s had some issues in the past with being washed, but his foster mum has worked hard on desensitising him. He can now manage a warm shower calmly and associates it with food rather than fear — but his new home must continue this gentle, supportive approach.

He’s a smart boy with a lot to give. He knows basic commands and has recall — he can be a little slow when distracted, but he hasn’t been with us long and he’s still building trust. He loves to play with like‑minded dogs and appeases the adults beautifully.

🏡 His ideal home

Ferg would suit an active home with someone who can pour time into him and finally give him the stability he’s been waiting for. This outgoing boy would really benefit from living with another friendly dog to continue helping him develop socially. He’s sweet‑natured, eager, and doing his absolute best to be a good boy. He deserves someone who will love him forever.
